Radiation-Induced Soft Tissue Sarcoma after Prostate Brachytherapy
نویسنده
چکیده
Secondary malignancy arising following brachytherapy for prostate cancer is rare in medical literature. We present a case of post-brachytherapy soft tissue sarcoma in the pelvis approximately 7 years after 103-P permanent seed implant. The patient developed a large left pelvic mass associated with significant left leg pain. He was not a good candidate for radical surgery, chemotherapy, or re-irradiation. Due to the paucity of high-quality studies, the exact role of prostate brachytherapy in radiationinduced soft tissue sarcoma is still unclear. We seek to review the existing literature on radiation-induced soft tissue sarcoma.

Flap reconstruction and interstitial brachytherapy in nonextremity soft tissue sarcoma.
Radiotherapy is an integral component of management of high-grade soft tissue sarcomas. Interstitial brachytherapy is used to deliver a boost or radical dose with several advantages over external beam radiotherapy. There has always been a concern to use brachytherapy with flap reconstruction of skin defects after wide excision. We preset our initial experience with interstitial brachytherapy in...

Brachytherapy, is a method to treat prostate cancer in which a radiation source is placed inside or next to the cancer affected tissues. Purpose of this article is to determine the uncertainty level of received dose in prostate tissue due to the relocation of the placed radiation sources and inflation in prostate after positioning the radiation seeds. To simulate the model 6711 Amersham (activi...
متن کاملManagement of recurrent alveolar soft-part sarcoma of the tongue after external beam radiotherapy with iodine-125 seed brachytherapy.
BACKGROUND Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare type of soft tissue sarcoma. The infrequency of ASPS is such that it accounts for <1% of all soft tissue sarcomas and <0.1% of sarcomas concerning the head and neck, primarily those involving the orbit (48%) and tongue (25%). Traditional chemotherapy or radiotherapy of ASPS is often associated with poor outcome, even after comprehensive int...
متن کاملRe: Conservative management of early bladder rupture after postoperative radiotherapy for prostate cancer.
Sir, In Urology Journal 2008;5:269-71, Basiri and Radfar reported on the serious but rare complication of spontaneous intraperitoneal bladder rupture following salvage radiotherapy for biochemically recurrent prostate cancer.(1) This was successfully managed by conservative methods. Bladder rupture has been described as a complication of both pelvic external beam radiation therapy and brachythe...
متن کاملSurgical resection with adjuvant brachytherapy in soft tissue sarcoma of the extremity – a case report
PURPOSE Surgery is the major therapeutic method in soft tissue sarcomas of the extremity (E-STS). Treatment of large high-grade tumours, which resection cannot be performed with a wide safe margin, should include complementary radiation and/or chemo-therapy. Hopefully, the use of adjuvant brachytherapy will improve the prognosis of E-STS. CASE DESCRIPTION After a long process of diagnosing a ...
